Through our specialist provider CCSM New Zealand is able to send volunteers to China to participate in medical, dental and pharmacy teams.
THEIR VISION STATEMENT SAYS,
We are an international, Christian, humanitarian and non-profit organization committed to helping the poor and needy develop and improve their physical, mental, emotional and moral conditions.
Beneath China's surface of dazzling economic prosperity and technological industrialization, poverty remains widespread, particularly in remote rural areas. Over 100,000,000 Chinese individuals live on less than US$1 a day, another 20,000,000+ are deprived of adequate food and clothing, and many of these are unable to afford much-needed medical care.
We exist because our conviction is that to Christ "Every Life Matters" regardless of ethnicity, age, gender or circumstances.
Perhaps the numbers seem overwhelming but the part you play in our medical team matters, maybe more than you may realize.
Jesus Went Through All The Towns And Villages, Teaching In Their Synagogues, Proclaiming The Good News Of The Kingdom And Healing Every Disease And Sickness. (Matthew 9:35)
One medical team member said:
“By words of mouth, some walked up 20km to reach this free clinic. Many had not seen a doctor for years as they couldn't afford it. Local hospitals or clinics, even state-run, are cost and profit centered nowadays. There is not much free lunch even for the poor. Quite a few even fainted while waiting for treatment due to lack of food or drink. Once our dentist rushed to the pharmacy in search of glucose as his patient was blacked out during tooth extraction.”
Medical Professionals Are Required Including Surgeons, Paediatricians Dentists, Eye Specialists, Nurses, Physiotherapists Etc. The Teams Also Require Non-Medical Helpers To Assist With Setting Up, Reception, Crowd Control And The Like. Mandarin Speakers Are Especially Welcome - Both Medical And Non-Medical.
“Sometimes when you think you may have nothing to offer, you are most valuable to God... I couldn't help wondering how did the organisers place me in perhaps the most suitable position among this 50-strong medical team: pharmacy. I am just an ordinary homemaker, no medical training, no professional background, a down-to-earth mum.”
Teams are based in a regional city staying in hotel accommodation. We work in several areas of China but our main focus is in the north and western provinces. Teams travel each day to rural clinics. CCSM will handle all travel and accommodation arrangements. Download the Short-term Mission Dates for 2015 below for costs.
The teams are generally 10 days long but there are opportunities to stay longer. They leave in June and August. If you have a group of eight or more people who would be interested in joining a Medical team, please let us know and we can talk about putting together a trip just for you!
2018: SHORT TERM MISSION DATES/COSTS
